In the decade of 1980's in Madhya Pradesh, there were 07 engineering colleges, 06 medical colleges & 21 polytechnic colleges. At that time MP government decided to start some New engineering colleges in Jagdalpur & Sagar, and decided to start new polytechnic colleges in baikunthpur, Jhabua and Baidhan. On 25t h MAY 1982, for the development of technical education in distant Tribal area, 22nd polytechnic was established in baikunthpur, Madhya Pradesh. Late Mr. ........ was appointed as first principal of this college, which was fourth college of our Chhattisgarh State. In the session of 1983-84, in the department of CIVIL Engineering 30 students were given admission. Koriya is known for large available sources for Coal & Bauxite and viewing the growing demand of Mine engineers, started session 1st sep. 2010
At present there are 06 Branches in our college and 42 students are given admission in each branch and total number of intake students per year is 252. At present there are more than 700 students are pursuing diploma in this college. We have 32 highly qualified Lecturers & 82 supporting Staff, who are giving their best in developing the Academic & professional Education.
This college was first started in small room of I.T.I. baikunthpur and then after it continued in a building, which was taken on rent for, near about 10 years. At present it has its own building and campus which is situated in 24 Acres of land & 01 lack square feet. Campus comprises a large building of more than 100 rooms and all the laboratory, different workshop, Library, classroom, conference hall, sport ground, canteen, and beautiful garden in each block. There are approx 35000 Books in all different stream are available in the Library. For the students of our college, it has a Boys hostel of 102 Beds and also has the Permission for the establishment of Girls hostel of 52 Beds. And for the accommodation of our college staffs there are 31 quarters are available.
